10:15 Parish Eucharist in church and live streamed
Please pass on the link https://www.facebook.com/Eccle...so we can bring hope to all those in need of comfort at this time.
Lord, you have taught us that all our doings without love are nothing worth: send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whoever lives is counted dead before you. Grant this, for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Sunday 13 June Readings:
Ezekiel 17: 22-24;
II Corinthians 5: 6-10, 14-17

We pray for an end to coronavirus:
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, whose years never fail and whose mercies are new each returning day: let the radiance of your Spirit renew our lives, warming our hearts and giving light to our minds; that we may pass the coming year in joyful obedience and firm faith; through him who is the beginning and the end, your Son, Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.

Confirmations this year will take place at Charnock Richard, Christ Church on Wednesday 23 June at 18:00 and 19:30. For many years we have held a confirmation eucharist in Eccleston Parish Church. However, as a united benefice it is right to share the joys and outreach of our work with young people, so Bishop Philip will be confirming the candidates at Charnock Richard across two services to ensure social distancing and to enable as many family and supporters of the confirmands to attend as possible. Please pray for all the candidates including Ethan Hilton from our parish.
The Midweek Eucharist
As restrictions are eased further some people may still be unsure about returning to church on a Sunday. If you are missing the 08:00 on Sunday, the eucharist on Wednesday at 11:30 has a smaller congregation and may provide a more reassuring way to worship and receive communion.
The PCC will be making a decision about the service pattern at the next meeting. As yet there have been very few responses re the 08:00 Sunday eucharist or alternatives. If you wish to contribute please do so as soon as possible. One recent suggestion is to hold a midweek eucharist on a Thursday evening. Whilst this may clash with choir practice it could be possible once a month
Coming to church
In terms of Social Distancing NHS Test and Trace has redefined what is considered to be close contact. It is therefore vital, whilst in church, to maintain at least 2m from those not in your support bubble. If you are in contact with an infected person in the previous 24 hours NHS Test and Trace can require self isolation if you have been within 2m of the infected person for more than 15 minutes or within 1m for more than 60 seconds. Please note who is within 2m of you in church as we may be asked for this information. Also, remain vigilant, register your attendance, use hand sanitiser; wear a mask and remain two metres apart from others at all times.
Singing Since 17 May, the government has issued stricter guidance on singing in church which is more restrictive for amateur choirs than was the case immediately before 17 May. For professional choirs there is some relaxation of the rules as long as social distancing is observed. Please be assured we will do all we can to comply with new guidelines in order to keep you safe. In a parallel development Fr Andrew has been appointed the Blackburn Diocese representative for the RSCM (Royal School of church Music) and he will do all he can to seek clarity on the revised government position and press for a sensible and timely easement of the more restrictive guidance.

The Spar Shop at Heskin has a new coffee machine which means their previous coffee cups are redundant. The shop has given them to Alan Whittaker who approached us to see if we could use 200 cardboard cups, and napkins. This is a very welcome gift which enables us to move away from plastic to a recyclable alternative when we have events in church. Many thanks to Alan for thinking of us and helping all of us to save the planet.
Giving - your donations through our contactless terminal in church can now benefit from GiftAid if you are a UK taxpayer. That means for every £5 you donate, Eccleston St Mary’s PCC receives £6.25. To help us receive this extra benefit please register your Visa and MasterCard on the Swiftaid website (by clicking on the link or the image above) before you use the terminal in church. Please contact Eric Smith if you will to join the envelope scheme. He has a number spare.
Also please sign up to Easyfundraising (details below) as this is such a good way to earn money for church without any effort, especially now that online purchases are increasing popular since the beginning of the pandemic.
